A Found Poem Saying Goodbye to the Late Greats

A Found Poem Saying Goodbye to the Late Greats

(David Bowie, Kitty Kallen, Otis Clay, Glenn Frey, & Dale Griffin – January 2016)

All the young dudes

Wear diamonds and pearls

As they leave the people behind

On reservations; out in the ghettos

They heard the mission bell

And Ziggy played Voodoo guitar

In the shimmering stardust light

No more concrete all around

The boogaloo dudes

Played them in

And we rapped all night about their suicides

Their cancer cells, their heart attacks

Still, the papers carried the news

On the ground, control is gone

On the ground, control is gone

Oh, walk a mile in my shoes

Walk a mile in my shoes

No more concrete all around

No more taking protein pills

These little things mean a lot

Walk a mile in my shoes
